Indian multinational takes steps to meet the demand for hand sanitisers

Staff Reporter ; Kolkata, 1 April: With a view to largely bridging the gap between the demand and supply of hand sanitisers, Kolkata headquartered ITC Liimted, one of the largest multinational business conglomerates, here today announced the commencement of largescale production of ‘Savlon sanitisers’ at its plant in Himachal Pradesh.

According to ITC sources here today,in order to serve a larger national priority during these challenging times, the company’s state-of-the-art Perfume manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh today commenced production of Savlon Sanitisers to cater to the soaring demand.

‘Commissioned recently in November 2019, the factory at Manpura in Himachal Pradesh is a world class facility designed to produce premium fine fragrances’, they told here.
Amid this unprecedented surge in demand for hand hygiene products like sanitisers across the country and even abroad, ITC, on a war footing, repurposed this world class perfume facility to help produce an additional 1,25,000 litres of Savlon Hand Sanitisers, the sources said.

Moreover,in line with the Government order and in public interest, ITC had reduced prices of Savlon sanitisers and had been working overnight to reach the new stocks with the revised prices to the market, the sources informed adding the company also reinforced its efforts to enhance awareness about the importance of hand hygiene through campaigns across digital, print and other communication platforms.
