Kolkata, May 9: Eastern Railway (ER) is taking care of the poor & starving people during the lockdown period and arranging food for them in a regular basis. ER’s Railway Protecting Force or RPF is regularly distributing food prepared by RPF / IRCTC among the destitute persons flocking round the stations.
The place & stations where lunch and dinner have been arranged today include Fairlie Place, Howrah, Sheoraphuli, Sealdah, Bidhannagar, Park Circus, Ranaghat, Berhampore, Budge Budge, Asansol, Barakar, Dumka etc.
Today as many 1892 persons have been provided with lunch.
Arrangement for dinner has been made for 240 persons, which is to be distributed by RPF personnel at different places over ER jurisdiction.
Besides, ER/RPF has also distributed food grains, potatoes etc among needy families at Jamtara area.
Everywhere social distancing and all other hygienic stipulations are being maintained, ER sources said. The sources added that movement of normal passenger trains have been suspended. But Goods and Parcel Express trains are running continuously to maintain supply of essential commodities. So everybody is requested not to cross or walk through the Railway track. It may lead to fatal incidents. Crossing Railway tracks is also a punishable offence.
