ST Bureau ; Kolkata, 2 March : In less than 24 hours after Union Home minister Amit Shah gave a clarion call of ‘Aar Noi Ananay'( No more Wrong doings) to the people of West Bengal asking them to raise their voice against the alleged misrule in the state, Chief minister Mamata Banerjee who is also the chief of All India Trinamool Congress here today launched her second intensified statewide campaign ‘Banglar Garbo Mamata’ (Pride of Bengal is Mamata) with an eye to clinch both the Corporation elections in April as well as the next year’s Assembly poll.
Launching the new outreach programme for Trinamool Congress workers from the grass root level, the Chief minister at a hugely attended meeting of all Trinamool Congress (TMC) Councillors, Borough Chairmen, MLAs, MPs and all other senior party leaders at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here today said the time has now come for all to get prepared to execute the party’s new strategy to win the upcoming municipal and Corporation polls next month hands down.
As usual coming down heavily on BJP and charged the largest National party with allegedly spreading canards against the ruling TMC, the Chief minister even blamed BJP for the recent mayhem in Delhi and said it was all done in a pre- planned manner.
Also ridiculing BJP for not being able to win the Delhi Assembly elections ‘in spite of all out efforts’, Mamata Banerjee said the party which could not even win in Delhi,’now dares to snatch a victory in West Bengal’.
However, possibly taking a cue from BJP’s ‘Avinandan Rally’ yesterday, where Amit Shah had requested the party workers to fan out all corners of the state and visit every resident to make people aware of the true facts behind CAA and NCR besides the alleged deterioration of law and order, the Chief minister also here this afternoon asked her party workers and leaders to go to every household in the city and elsewhere in the state to make them aware of her party’s outreach programme as well as all developmental schemes of her government since 2011.
Interestingly, the Chief minister during here speech to explain the new initiative, believed to be a brain child of her poll strategist Prashant Kishore who also introduced the ‘Didike Balo’ (Tell Mamata Didi) scheme after the Party’s poll debacle in last year’s Lok Sabha elections, cautioned a large section of her party leaders and workers for their alleged involvement in corruptions and in the infamous Cut Money scandal.
‘No one is above the party’, she said and added she was ‘determined to take strong action against each of the corrupt person and would throw him or her out of the party instantaneously, whoever he or she might be’.
After the strong warning she also explained to all present how important it was for TMC to win most of the 144 wards under Kolkata Municipal Corporation(KMC) as well as all wards in 107 other Municipal bodies elsewhere in the state next month for the third consecutive term.
At the beginning of today’s programme the Chief minister also asked everybody to observe a one minute silence in memory of those killed in recent violent clashes in Delhi and said her government was ready to extend all help for the rehabilitation of those affected.
Now it remains to be seen how this new initiative of ‘Banglar Garbo Mamata’ would help her party to return to the saddle for the third time in a row in as many state elections since 2011 outsmarting the reinvigorate efforts of her main rival BJP.
