Staff reporter ; Kolkata , 17 April : India Tribal Care Trust initiative of ISKCON has been actively involved in reaching out to tribal people through its food relief facilities, further the devotees have also taken the additional responsibility of educating the people of imortance of social distancing, maintaing hygine , informing them the symptoms of Covid 19. The devotees through its Food relief operations is currently reaching to more than 25000 tribal families covering 5 states namely West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh. The devotees are visiting distant locales, interior areas where the tribals are located. Mostly prepared food is being served on a daily basis however in few areas raw food items like rice, vegetables are being supplied which can sustain for weeks said Bhakti Purshottam Swami, senior monk and head of the India Tribal Care Trust on Friday.
He told the objective is to feed quality food, prepared in most hygenic enviornment to the tribals and care for their safety he added.
The Tribal care Trust is a unique initiative of ISKCON started in 2014 and it has been relentlessly working towards uplifting the socio economic condition of the tribals and endeavouring to bring them to mainstream so they do not feel cut off and isolated. The initiative also runs many schools to cater to the educational needs of the tribals.
