Bengal Governor visited ailing poet Shankha Ghosh at hospital

Kolkata, 22 January : Showing a goodwill gesture, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar today visited ailing renowned poet Shankha Ghosh at a private hospital here this afternoon and wished his speedy and early recovery.

‘I am so relieved to see him well’, the Governor said after visiting Ghosh and spending about 15 minutes with him at the South Kolkata Hospital.
Stating that the condition of the renowned Bengali poet who was admitted to the hospital last night after developing chest pain in his house, as ‘stable’, the Governor further stated that ‘I wish him long life for the welfare of the people of West Bengal’ and recalled the rich contribution of Ghosh in the literary world of Bengal.

Later in a message through his twitter handle the Governor wrote ‘Called on 87 year Padam Bhushan Sankha Ghosh in hospital. He is being well attended and in good shape now and got blessed. Met his daughter and son ln law. He was awarded Jnanpith Award in 2016-Sahitya Academy award in 1977. A versatile person-taught at several universities.’

The Janpith,Padma Bhusan and Rabindra Puraskar winner 87 year old poet suffered a massive chest pain at his house last night and was admitted to a South Kolkata hospital where a team of doctors are attending him round the clock.
