Kolkata : Today the day SMP, Kolkata has completed 150 years of its service to the Nation, a ceremony was organised where Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, President Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Swami Suviranandaji, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Vinit Kumar, Chairman, SMP, Kolkata, Dr. A.K. Chanda, former Chairman, SMP, Kolkata along with many port employees, tenants, users and other stakeholders participated through Zoom and Swami Bodhasaranandaji, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, A.K. Mehra, Dy. Chairman, SMP, Kolkata along with few others were present at the venue at Belur Math.

Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, President Ramakrishna Math and Mission, commissioned Roof Top Solar Power Project for the Main Temple Complex of Belur Math, which is a CSR initiative of SMP, Kolkata, in presence of A.K. Mehra, Dy. Chairman, SMP, Kolkata. The said Roof Top Solar Power Project would produce 100KW power at peak which will reduce carbon footprint considerably.

Vinit Kumar, Chairman, SMP, Kolkata launched a new Logo of the Port through Zoom, in tune with the new name announced by Prime Minister of India at the inaugural ceremony of the sesquicentenary celebrations of SMP, Kolkata, on 12.01.2020. The logo aims to be a concise visual representation of Brand “Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata”. The graphic in its entirety communicates a smart and contemporary image of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata mirroring its modern infrastructure and dynamic service ethos. The graphic uses a sailing vessel to indicate the age and two shades of blue, a colour that signifies the oceans to establish the logo as that of a port.

In the social media, SMP Kolkata has its presence in Facebook and Twitter. So far, it had not marked its imprint in YouTube. To fill up this void, Shri Vinit Kumar, Chairman, SMP, Kolkata launched the YouTube channel of SMP, Kolkata, which contains many films on the port including that of the inaugural ceremony of the sesquicentenary celebrations of SMP, Kolkata.

On this occasion, e-Bulletin containing important events taken place during last one year was launched by A.K. Mehra, Dy. Chairman, SMP, Kolkata, which would be available in the website and social media platforms of the port from Maha Saptami onwards.

Dr. A.K. Chanda, former Chairman, SMP, Kolkata and former Addl. Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal delivered Key Note address where he described the challenges faced by the Port and the opportunities available for it in future.

Vinit Kumar, Chairman, SMP, Kolkata, in his deliberation, emphasized that the Port has flourished over the years against all odds, due to love & affection of not only port employees but also the citizens of the city of Kolkata have for this port. Kumar also emphasised on the future prospects of this port.

Swami Suviranandaji, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission and Swami Bodhasaranandaji, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission described the close relationship SMP, Kolkata has with Ramakrishna Math and Mission and wished glorious future for the port.
